Bruce AllenI was influenced by color and movement in the subjects that I choose to work with.
Working with colored pencils for many years helped me develop an appreciation for layering of color, which will create movement and texture in each art piece. Colored pencils are easy to work with, travel well, and are affordable. As I continued to develop a style of work, I started combining colored pencil and acrylic paint on watercolor paper. For the last year I have been working with acrylic on canvas. Texture and mood of the subject have become my focus. Realism for me is not a duplication, it is a process that involves intense understanding and study of a medium, and a strong sense of color and value. The one thing I try to keep in mind is, "it is just paint and problems can be fixed". Just have fun! |
